Nan Miller Gallery Presents
Albert Paley and Gallery Artists
Rochester’s prominent Nan Miller Gallery presented its shining star last evening with a gala opening reception of Albert Paley’s sculpture and monoprints. The well-presented exhibition curated by the Gallery Director Gail Leess assisted by the expertise of the galleries’ design and exhibition staff was an opportunity for art lover’s to explore the many works of Albert Paley whose oeuvre includes art designed in the utilitarian to the aesthetic. Patrons of the arts were treated to a museum quality exhibit with works ranging from Paley’s sculptural candlesticks to his beautiful freestanding sculptures beautifully displayed throughout the gallery. The exhibit, a small scale retrospective gave an overview of Paley’s work with documentation, video of the recent New York City Park avenue public installations as well as an inside look at the artist’s working studio. A treat for the novice to the patron was the juxtaposition of Paley’s two dimensional work interspersed amongst the sculpture. This viewer, one of the galleries’ artists, was intrigued by the historical yet contemporized mix found in the work. Many of the sculptural pieces brought to mind the works of early Russian constructivists, especially in the layer ribbon twists of metal intertwining with each other forming the more colorful freestanding sculptures and playing a significant role in the supporting structures of the utilitarian works.
This exhibit on view through October 19th also will have a book signing of Albert Paley’s latest release “Albert Paley on Park Avenue” happening tonight October 10th at 7 PM. RSVP for this part of the exhibit at (585)292-1430 or email at info@nanmillergallery.com
While you are there I invite you to take in some of the gallery artists’ works also on view. They include, Hamilton Aguiar, Adam Colangelo,
Romero Britto, as well as a few of us Central New York artists, Pam Steele and my own oil paintings displayed here in the above photo.
The Nan Miller Gallery is to be commended on presenting a museum quality exhibit for everyone, patrons, art lovers, and students alike to enjoy. Don’t miss it! LB
